Supporting the future success and growth of the Australian Fashion Industry - the talent, skill and diversity - is what drives us here at Fashion Future.

This year we are launching the inaugural International Mentor Program - an opportunity for 20 emerging talents from the fashion, design, beauty and retail industry to gain experience on the international stage with world-renowned design houses and retailers in New York, London, Milan and Paris.

Join us at some of the highest profile fashion events in the world and be a guest at one of the 'big four' international catwalk influencers.

Fashion Future has a range of Global Fashion Opportunities-these cover ALL careers and emerging talent in the fashion industry from design, PR & Marketing, sales, visual merchandising and creative.

Applications and portfolios shortlisted by Fashion Future will be reviewed by the advisory board and submitted for revision by the International fashion houses and MENTORS.

In some instances, candidates may be required for an interview via skype or teleconference.

GLOBAL MENTOR opportunity Criteria +
Entrants must be an Australian citizen
There are 2 categories: student/recent graduates and ‘emerging talent’/designers

STUDENTS-must be between 18 to 29 years of age
Currently be enrolled and pursuing studies at an Australian degree/or certificate-granting post-secondary academic institution or have graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to his or her exchange visitor program start date.

EMERGING TALENT/Business MENTOR Opportunity- applicants must demonstrate a solid fashion business or fashion career.

The recipient will be allocated a GLOBAL Internship or GLOBAL FASHION EXPERIENCE tailored to the recipient's specific abilities/aspirations within the industry.

Duration +
The internship(s) will be a minimum of 3 months – 6 months. Commencement of the internship must be within twelve months of the recipient being notified. Please check criteria for each Global internship opportunity.

The length of the Global Fashion opportunities will vary depending on the experience offered by the International MENTOR.

Prizes +
The total value is over $250,000 including money can't buy experiences.

There will be 20 GLOBAL Fashion experiences awarded

10 Global internships +

10 Global fashion experiences in

New York, London, Milan and Paris.

Fashion Future has secured a range of financial, product & business support.

The 20 winners will each receive an ACER Tablet.

New York and London Fashion Weeks and the Paris Trade event include:
flights and 5 nights accommodation as part of the Global Mentor experience.

Recipients are responsible for all other expenses incurred.


Responsibilities +
Fashion Future will actively support and provide guidance for the 20 successful applicants during their GLOBAL FASHION EXPERIENCE and remain in constant contact and consultation with the MENTOR and the winner.

The 20 recipients will be ambassadors of the International Fashion Future MENTOR Program 2012.

The 20 successful recipients will also represent the International MENTORS and the SPONSORs and must conduct themselves in an appropriate manner.

The 20 recipients will be involved in and part of the Fashion Future International MENTOR Program social media campaign

Evaluation criteria +
Applicants must:
  • demonstrate vision, skill, creativity, innovation and business acumen.
  • complete the questionnaire and attach the required documents.
  • where appropriate demonstrate career and business credibility.
Application Process +
Following an initial review, a short list of applicants will be selected by the Fashion Future Advisory board and may either be invited to participate in one-on-one interviews conducted in Sydney or via Teleconference by the International MENTOR.

Applicants will be notified if they have been short-listed for interviews. And names will be posted on the Fashion Future website. The judges' decisions are final. Fashion Future will not give feedback on unsuccessful applications. All applications submitted become property of Fashion Future and will not be returned.
